Since the inaugural SCLE in 2011, it has been organized by CA-S with the support of fellow pillars. This year, in collaboration with the High Commission, CA-S planned the visit to Singapore of Canadian Benjamin Von Wong - epic photographer & Viral Campaign Creator.

This year’s exciting event was held at LaSalle College. In addition to the motivational and inspiring keynote by Von Wong, the afternoon also included:

Furthermore, the High Commission of Canada will be presenting an exhibit on the theme of marine plastics at the Sustainable Singapore Gallery at the Marina Barrage for a 6 week period March – April 2019. The exhibit will be launched on March 7 to align with World Wildlife Day, for which the 2019 theme is “Life below water: for people and planet”. World Wildlife Day is marked on March 3 each year. The exhibit also aligns with the Singapore government’s Zero Waste year.

The exhibit will feature the photography works of Canadian photographer Benjamin Von Wong, to raise awareness on the issue of marine plastics. We will be using images from 2 series of works that he has created – including the “Mermaids hate plastic” series and the “Truckload of Plastic” series. The exhibit will also include images which show the “making of” process, text describing the scale of the ocean plastics issue, as well as video footage provided by the artist.
